Overview
Located about two kilometers from the capital Argostoli, on the coastal road to Lassi, are the island’s most well known sinkholes, known in Greek as katavothres. Seawater enters the sinkholes on the coast and re-emerges at Melissani Lake and Karavomilo on the other side of the island. The existence of a karstic network across the island was proven in a 1963 experiment, in which Austrian geologists dumped green dye into the sinkholes of Katavothres and traced the course of the disappearing water with the use of radioisotopes. The watermills were erected by the Englishman Stevens, who was the first to observe this fascinating geological phenomenon. The diagram below illustrates the course of the water: 1. Seawater enters the sinkholes near Argostoli. 2. The water passes beneath the harbour and mountains of the island. 3. Rainwater is added to the seawater. 4. The seawater and rainwater mix together. 5. The brackish waters re-emerge at Melissani Lake and Karavomilo at Sami.

Depart from the hotel after breakfast at 9:30am for the Dubai City Tour. See old and new Dubai, from the man-made Palm Jumeirah to the iconic Burj Al Arab and the historic Al Fahidi Fort. Head to the Gold and Spice Souks for the aromas and colors of traditional Arabia. In the evening, board a traditional dhow for a two-hour dinner cruise along Dubai Marina with live entertainment and stunning skyline views.

Day 3
Dubai Frame tour and afternoon desert safari with BBQ dinner

Visit the Dubai Frame at 10am for a glimpse of the city's old and new sides from the 150m-high bridge. In the afternoon, head out to the desert for dune bashing, camel rides, and a Bedouin-style camp experience with a BBQ dinner, henna painting, and a live Tanoura dance show.

Day 4
Burj Khalifa tour with Musical fountain show and Dubai Mall shopping tour
The Dubai Mall
At leisure until 4pm, then transfer to The Dubai Mall — home to the world's tallest dancing fountains, an indoor aquarium, and the largest Gold Souk in the world. Ride to the 124th floor of the Burj Khalifa for panoramic views of the city, then enjoy the evening Musical Fountain show before returning to the hotel.
